The Power of a Single Letter

Sandoll Cloud's first open call has begun. Titled [My Favorite One Letter 2], the project invites participants to choose a single Hangul character, infuse it with personal emotion, and express it through lettering. It is also an experiment in exploring one’s own perspective and sensibility through the smallest possible unit.

The decision to limit submissions to a single syllable was intentional. By narrowing the form, more can be revealed. To contain meaning within one letter is to distill a creator’s way of thinking, working, and even their personal taste. This structure offers a clear point of departure for creators, while opening up space for diverse interpretations among viewers.

For those who have struggled with where to begin a project, this small constraint is meant to serve as a surprisingly clear guide—one that turns limitation into direction.

When single letters created by different artists are placed side by side, their meanings deepen. Each work carries the creator’s unique perspective, which naturally intersects with others, and as viewers add their own interpretations, the pieces begin to resonate more strongly. When this shared flow of emotion goes on to inspire another viewer to create in turn, those single letters become more than individual works. They become the starting point of the creative ecosystem that Sandoll Cloud seeks to cultivate—one that is active, connected, and continually evolving.

For a Living, Breathing Creative Ecosystem

What Sandoll Cloud means by a creative ecosystem is one that does not end with the completion of a work. It is an environment where creative output finds real use, reaches everyday life, and returns tangible value to its creators.

Winning entries from this open call will enter into an IP licensing agreement with Sandoll Cloud and be brought to life as a range of goods in collaboration with the lifestyle brand Festiver. A piece of work becomes a product; appreciation leads to purchase; and creators receive compensation in return. Some members of the audience who witness this process may find themselves inspired—and return not as viewers, but as creators.

As this cycle repeats, the ecosystem begins to sustain itself. This is the kind of environment Sandoll Cloud aims to build: one where emotion, expression, and reward circulate naturally among people, allowing creativity to move, connect, and continue to grow.

Keeping the Flow Alive

Looking ahead, future open calls may take shape around a wide range of themes and formats. They may expand from a single letter to a sentence, from typography to graphic expression. No matter how the form evolves, one principle will remain unchanged: the creator must always be at the center. We want to sustain a cycle in which a creator’s emotions are expressed, those expressions reach others and spark responses, and those responses, in turn, lead to new creative work. With this in mind, Sandoll Cloud plans to continue inviting diverse creative practices into the platform, one by one.

This open call serves as a signal flare for that ongoing flow. We believe that creation is not a solitary act, but something that lives longer and grows stronger through exchange. We hope this small initiative becomes a healthy seed for that process—and that its roots extend deeply into your own desire to create. Sandoll Cloud aims to be a safe ground where those creative impulses can move freely, connect, and continue to grow.
