Sandoll Inside
Creating a "Beautiful World" Together
Sandoll is building a beautiful world where everyone can thrive together—a world where anyone can express themselves freely. We believe that freedom of expression shouldn't be confined to screens but should extend into the environments and daily lives we inhabit.
This company-wide volunteer activity was an opportunity to put that belief into action. Through invasive plant removal along Seoul's Cheonggyecheon Stream, Sandoll sought to create a better tomorrow through the simple act of caring for and tending to the spaces we belong to. Cheonggyecheon is a precious ecological space in the heart of the city where nature and people coexist, but its ecosystem balance has been threatened by rapidly spreading invasive plants. Sandoll employees came together with shared purpose to remove these harmful plants, helping restore the breath of nature within the urban landscape.
As hands joined together and shared time accumulated, we hoped to reflect anew on the meaning of environmental protection and the value of community. Today, we'd like to share the thoughts and feelings our team members exchanged during this time together.

Brand Design Team, Park Jeonghyo

Q1. What do you currently do at Sandoll?
| I work as a brand designer at Sandoll. I create a consistent visual language across various touchpoints so people can naturally recognize the "Sandoll" brand. The output isn't limited to specific media or formats—it could be graphics, merchandise, posters, or even written content. My job is to think about how we can create more authentically Sandoll experiences.
|
Q2. What moment during the activity left an impression on you?
| Honestly, I didn't feel any major change or revelation in the moment itself. I just thought, "Wow, removing invasive plants is much harder and more exhausting than I expected." A few days later, while taking a walk, I noticed the plants arranged along the waterfront. It was a familiar landscape I'd passed countless times, but strangely, my gaze lingered that day. Looking at the plants tended by someone's hands, I naturally thought of the effort put in by those who care for the environment and maintain the city's appearance. Seeing it that way, the plants in the park felt more precious and admirable. It was a moment when I understood what it means to look at the world with a more compassionate gaze, and how profoundly that perspective can influence one's daily life.
|
Q3. How might activities like this influence Sandoll's corporate culture?
| I'm naturally reserved and often find it difficult to approach people even when I want to get closer. Through this volunteer activity, working up a sweat together and moving side by side, I felt the emotional distance shrink—without needing to say much. I believe that closing psychological distance definitely has a positive impact on collaboration. After all, within Sandoll as an organization, we're all moving toward shared goals. Looking back, past projects also seemed more satisfying when we showed mutual consideration and exchanged active feedback. Even when the process was difficult, those times remained as good memories. The "more compassionate gaze toward the world" I mentioned earlier comes from carefully observing your surroundings and considering others' perspectives. Consideration naturally flows from that kind of outlook. If we internalize these attitudes through volunteer work and they naturally expand into our corporate culture, I think Sandoll can evolve into an organization with healthy, solid teamwork.
|
Q4. Are there other social contribution activities you'd like to do together with Sandoll members?
| I think it would be great to do something related to "letters"—what Sandoll does best. Korean language education for elderly people struggling with literacy or children from multicultural families comes to mind. I've always found it fascinating how voluntary participation in activities like volunteering naturally reveals what people care about. As Sandoll's social contribution activities accumulate, won't we come to understand our colleagues' interests better? If it becomes an opportunity to know each other more deeply, any activity would be meaningful. Personally, I love animals. During my undergraduate years, I volunteered at an animal shelter for abandoned pets. Those memories remain warm for me. More than anything, it made me reconsider the meaning of responsibility. After returning from this volunteer activity, I found myself thinking I should visit again after all this time. Anyone who'd like to join me is more than welcome!
|
Q5. Please share your thoughts on participating.
| I think it's been a really long time since I've touched soil. Living in the city, we gradually forget that we're grounded in nature, but this volunteer activity helped me reconnect with that sense. The weather was beautiful too, so it was a refreshing break. Above all, I could genuinely feel Sandoll's philosophy of "creating a beautiful world." Though it was brief, I hope we made at least some small contribution. I look forward to Sandoll's social contribution activities continuing steadily!

Font Integrated Sales Team, Bae Seoungwoo

Q1. What do you currently do at Sandoll?
| I work as a type consultant at Sandoll. I listen to the challenges faced by various creators who use fonts and help build a world where anyone can express themselves freely using Sandoll's type solutions. I particularly work with clients from corporate organizations.
|
Q2. What moment during the activity left an impression on you?
| This was the first time since I joined that all employees gathered in one place to participate in volunteer work. Just the fact that everyone came together with shared purpose for "work that benefits the world"—what Sandoll strives for—felt deeply rewarding. As the company has grown, opportunities for everyone to come together like this have become increasingly rare, so the very fact that we all gathered to accomplish something meaningful felt precious. Personally, I spend most of my time sitting at my desk in front of a monitor, but on this day, I had the pleasure of moving my body, seeing trees and grass, hearing birds, and working up a sweat. It made me want to create more moments like this going forward.
|
Q3. How might activities like this influence Sandoll's corporate culture?
| Film critic Lee Dong-jin once said something along these lines: that leisure and space in our lives allow us to care for ourselves and those around us. It's obvious, but when we're immersed in work, we naturally overlook what's happening with our colleagues (outside of work). Activities like this volunteer work become precious opportunities to catch our breath and look after one another. Beyond mutual understanding and care among colleagues, this positive energy extends outward into the community. Ultimately, don't these experiences come together to strengthen Sandoll's corporate culture even further?
|
Q4. Are there other social contribution activities you'd like to do together with Sandoll members?
| I recently discovered a brand called New Year Market produce and sell stickers and memo pads featuring drawings and handwriting created by elderly people. Even though the writing is wobbly and uneven, I found it striking how each product carries the individual character of its creators. Seeing this example made me think it would be wonderful if Sandoll could connect with the community through Korean language content—what we do best. As PD Jeonghyo suggested, we could run Korean language and handwriting education programs for elderly people struggling with literacy or children from multicultural families. We might even create warm, delightful outcomes together, like the Chilgok Grandma Handwriting font.
|
Q5. Please share your thoughts on participating.
| I hope we can have meaningful moments like this more often. Honestly, on my own I often think "I should volunteer sometime" but never actually take that first step. Doing it together with colleagues naturally created motivation. Plus, working up a sweat on-site brought far more joy than I expected. Great work, everyone!

B2B Partnerships Team, Choi Yongjoo

Q1. What do you currently do at Sandoll?
| I lead the B2B Partnership Team at Sandoll, where I'm responsible for font license sales and new client acquisition. I create touchpoints with corporate clients across various industries and help ensure Sandoll's design assets contribute to elevating their brand value. I find great fulfillment in proposing solutions tailored to client needs and developing and executing strategies that lead to long-term partnerships. I see myself as a bridge—understanding the market and clients while effectively communicating Sandoll's philosophy and technical capabilities.
|
Q2. What moment during the activity left an impression on you?
| Though it was brief, the experience of moving my body in an unfamiliar natural environment—touching soil and pulling plants—resonated more deeply than I expected. Learning that this wasn't simply weeding but meaningful work to maintain a healthy urban ecosystem gave me a renewed sense of responsibility toward the environment I live in. I also felt deep gratitude thinking about how someone has been doing this work all along. Understanding what "invasive plants" are and why we need to remove them was a significant learning experience. Because all Sandoll members moved with shared purpose throughout the process, I could deeply feel our sense of community solidarity. It was a precious time to reflect on feelings and values that are easily overlooked in our busy daily lives, through an unfamiliar experience.
|
Q3. How might activities like this influence Sandoll's corporate culture?
| Volunteer work warms the inner lives of individual members and deepens bonds between one another. The experience of laughing together, moving together, and contributing to society goes beyond simple teamwork to create a culture of genuine empathy and collaboration. This naturally carries into the workplace, fostering an atmosphere where we better understand and consider each other. It becomes the foundation for building a healthy corporate culture where members can work with pride. I believe this plays a vital role in creating a positive cycle where Sandoll's creativity and social responsibility naturally connect.
|
Q4. Are there other social contribution activities you'd like to do together with Sandoll members?
| The Sandoll Volunteer Corps was established last November. We're currently active in Seongdong District, and going forward, I'd like to see us engage more closely with this local community through mutually beneficial activities. Even without grand projects, I hope our attention to detail and warmth can seep into every corner of the neighborhood. For example, we could help design signage for libraries or community centers that residents frequent, run letter-play programs with local children, or beautifully redesign name tags for elderly neighbors. I dream of Sandoll's creative assets naturally blending into the community and its residents, with people saying to each other, "I heard the Sandoll Volunteer Corps did this." If we could feel Sandoll's touch throughout Seongdong District like that, there would be no more meaningful social contribution.
|
Q5. Please share your thoughts on participating.
| Through volunteer activities, I've come to understand "time spent together" in a new light. Rather than being in a position to help others, I've often found myself receiving far more comfort and joy in return. This volunteer work—tending to urban nature—resonated with me more deeply than I expected. It wasn't simply about pulling plants but about making the spaces we inhabit healthier. Watching each other work up a sweat deepened our sense of solidarity. While we're usually busy with our individual tasks, the collective resonance felt when we gathered under the banner of volunteering touched me deeply. I hope we can continue this warm momentum going forward.

Leader of the Busniess Strategy Group, Shin Donggeun

Q1. What do you currently do at Sandoll?
| I serve as the Management Strategy Group Director, working alongside the Business Planning, Financial Planning, and People Together teams(HR).
|
Q2. What moment during the activity left an impression on you?
| I was deeply impressed watching a fellow volunteer carefully retrieve small fish and shrimp from the invasive plants we'd collected. In that moment, I realized that while protecting the natural environment is important work we should all care about, it's also an area that absolutely requires someone's meticulous care and steady effort. Seeing how they cherished each small life made me reconsider my own attitude toward the environment.
|
Q3. How might activities like this influence Sandoll's corporate culture?
| Sandoll operates on the philosophy of "creating a beautiful world." This company-wide volunteer activity was a meaningful time when all employees could directly practice this corporate philosophy. Through this, employees' awareness of our philosophy has been significantly strengthened, and I believe it will positively influence the development of a healthy corporate culture grounded in altruistic spirit.
|
Q4. Are there other social contribution activities you'd like to do together with Sandoll members?
| Above all, I believe what's most important is creating opportunities for members to help others with joy and genuine willingness. For company-wide volunteer activities, we're considering kimchi-sharing drives in fall and briquette-delivery volunteering in winter. I hope these activities become meaningful occasions for all employees to share warmth and contribute to society.
|
Q5. Please share your thoughts on participating.
| Leaving the office and having all employees participate with shared purpose, working up a sweat for nature—this volunteer activity was deeply meaningful. I found great significance in stepping away from our busy routines to feel nature's value alongside colleagues and personally experience the importance of environmental protection. Personally, it became an opportunity to reconsider nature that I'd previously taken for granted, and I developed a stronger sense of responsibility after realizing that small actions can create significant change. It made me want to continue participating in contribution activities like this going forward.

Looking Back on Our Time Together
This volunteer activity reaffirmed our belief that small actions, when gathered together, create meaningful change. Beyond simply cleaning the environment, employees moved their bodies alongside one another and drew closer to nature. Through this process, we deeply felt both the importance of protecting the environment and the meaning of a community moving forward together. It was a meaningful time where we reflected on the value of teamwork and cooperation while practicing respect and care for the environment we belong to.
In preparing for this event, our central concern was ensuring that Sandoll's core value—"a world where anyone can express themselves freely"—comes alive in everyday life. Expression doesn't originate solely from words, writing, or design. We believe that how we shape our environment and the attitude with which we live our daily lives—all of this forms the beginning of expression. That's why we focused on creating an experience where we could directly care for and transform the environment, from selecting the activity location to determining the volunteer approach.
Many participants shared that "my body was tired, but my heart felt lighter." That single sentiment transformed all our efforts into genuine fulfillment. Sandoll will continue taking steps toward creating "a world where anyone can express themselves freely." We'll steadily carry forward small actions directed at our workplace, our daily lives, and the world at large, so that this freedom can take deeper root.
