Creative content platform company Sandoll Inc. (CEO Youngho Yun) announced on the 21st that its platform SandollCloud successfully hosted the awards ceremony for “My Favorite Hangul, Season 2” on October 20 at the Spigen Hall in Gangnam, Seoul.
“My Favorite Hangul” is SandollCloud’s signature design competition that focuses on the essence of typography—Hangul itself—and invites creators to express their emotions and stories through a single letter.
This year’s competition recorded an impressive 100:1 competition rate, drawing overwhelming interest from the creative community. The winning works reinterpret the structural and emotional beauty of Hangul, expressing each creator’s unique perspective and sentiment through the form of a single character. By transforming these works into tangible products, Sandoll has demonstrated how fonts can evolve beyond visual language into new IP content that connects industries and culture.
The project also highlighted the potential for fonts to become a core expressive language of K-content, moving beyond their traditional role as design assets. By integrating typography with diverse fields such as branding, video, webtoons, and gaming, fonts are increasingly serving as cultural tools that visually convey emotion and identity, reinforcing their position at the heart of the K-content ecosystem.
The competition drew participation from a wide range of creators—from professional designers to everyday enthusiasts—demonstrating the universal appeal of Hangul as a creative medium. The winning works showcased how letters can function as emotional language, proving both the cultural value and artistic potential of fonts.
The awards ceremony brought together creators, SandollCloud representatives, and partners from FESTIVER to celebrate “the moment of one letter.” An exhibition of the winning entries—transformed into the “Lettering Goods Collection”—allowed visitors to experience firsthand how creators’ emotions were brought to life through everyday products.
This year’s Grand Prize went to the single-letter work “돛 (Sail)” by Dongwook Ko, who explained, “Just as you cannot change the wind but can adjust your sail, I wanted to express the idea of maintaining direction and perspective in changing situations. It’s meaningful to see my work transformed into a real product that can reach more people.”
The six winning designs have been turned into mobile accessories—including phone cases, AirPods/Buds cases, keyrings, and grip holders—through a collaboration between SandollCloud and FESTIVER. The Lettering Goods Collection is available through FESTIVER’s official stores (online and offline), Naver Store, and MUSINSA, operated by Spigen Korea.
A SandollCloud representative stated, “This competition is not merely a design contest, but a sustainable model for transforming creators’ emotions into IP content and expanding the boundaries of the font industry. It also represents an important step toward integrating typography into the broader K-content ecosystem. Moving forward, SandollCloud will continue building collaborations that enable creators’ emotions and stories to expand into products, experiences, and culture.”
