Sandoll, a content creator platform company led by CEO Young-ho Yun, has announced the launch of 「SD Jeongche」, an update to their body text font 「Sandoll Jeongche」series, on January 17th.

「SD Jeongche」 has undergone improvements over five years following its initial launch in 2019, incorporating feedback and survey results from users. Notably, the 2023 survey on prioritizing expansions for the 「Jeongche」 series highlighted key enhancements such as the addition of thicker weights and an expanded range of Hangul support.

Consequently, 「SD Jeongche」 extends full Hangul support across the series (530,630,730,830,930,030) and introduces two thicker weights (590, 690) to address issues with characters not displaying properly in previous work, thereby enhancing the overall quality of the work environment.

The 590 and 690 weights are thicker versions of 530 and 630, optimized for headings and boldly emphasized short texts. They are designed to produce excellent visual effects at sizes from 18pt to 24pt and maintain readability at smaller sizes. Additionally, italic styles 590i and 690i have been added, enabling their use in copyright and source citations, emphasis, and more in foreign literature.

「SD Jeongche」 has expanded its set of typefaces to harmoniously integrate various text elements. It enables typesetting of diverse textual elements such as body text, headings, quotations, emphasized text, and mixed-use (including multilingual) required in publishing, maintaining consistent weight or varying weights as needed. This facilitates easier publishing and printing work.

「SD Jeongche」 supports not only Korean but also 35 other languages using the Latin script, with punctuation also designed to align with the linguistic characteristics of Hangul and Latin, ensuring consistency and accuracy in a multilingual publishing environment. This extensive language support is anticipated to be an invaluable tool for content creators.

Sandoll continues to develop body text fonts, such as the contemporary 「Sandoll GothicNeo」 and the digitally optimized variable font 「SD Minburi」, both exemplifying Sandoll's ongoing research to enhance Hangul fonts and provide usability suitable for the digital age.

In particular, 「SD Jeongche」 is expected to become a leading choice in content creation environments by enhancing the quality of Hangul fonts and establishing itself as one of Sandoll's flagship body text fonts.

A Sandoll representative stated, "Sandoll is committed to expanding the beauty and potential of Hangul through font development, striving to provide optimal user experiences across various work environments. We will continue to drive innovation in fonts through ongoing research and development."
