Content creator platform company Sandoll Co., Ltd. (CEO Young-ho Yun)anounced on March 13 (Thursday) that it delivered a presentation on the changing landscape of entertainment fonts and consumer-driven trends at the ‘Typeface Design Communication+ Seminar’ hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office on March 12 (Wednesday).

The seminar, held on March 12 at Moiso Hall of Design House in Jung-gu, Seoul, was organized to explore ways to protect typeface design amidst the rapidly changing industrial environment and technological advancements over the past 20 years, and to foster understanding and communication between the industry and academia.

At the seminar, Sandoll delivered an in-depth presentation under the theme of "Consumer-Driven Entertainment Fonts." Sandoll emphasized that the role of fonts in the entertainment industry is becoming increasingly important. As consumers increasingly seek visual pleasure through fonts, the value of entertainment fonts is rising significantly.

The presentation highlighted the shifting trend in font consumption. In the past, design experts primarily used fonts to create content, while general consumers simply consumed the finished products. However, with the rise of general consumers as content creators, fonts have become a key element in determining the completeness and success of content.

The importance of fonts’ aesthetic elements in short-form content and social media was also addressed. While experts regard fonts as a design tool, general consumers perceive fonts as a critical factor in enhancing the visual appeal and overall quality of content—highlighting a difference in perception between the two groups.

As a result, general consumers are now willing to pay for fonts that suit their tastes, and the choice of font has become a decisive factor in the success of content in the entertainment industry.

A Sandoll representative stated, “As interest in the elements that make up content increases, awareness of fonts is also changing. Consumers are now selecting fonts to enhance their content experiences, underscoring the growing importance of fonts in the entertainment industry. Sandoll will continue to monitor the demand for fonts in the entertainment and creator markets and develop new fonts that reflect consumer preferences and trends.”
